ENERGY SAVING
Saving energy means decreasing the amount of energy used while achieving a similar outcome of end use. We live in an age where energy is an absolute necessity to maintain our lifestyle and it goes beyond the basics of providing comfort and convenience. We only need to think back to the last power cut to understand the reality of life without energy, when nothing that you've come to be dependent on works. Using less energy has lots of benefits;

  •     Saving energy means wasting less money
  •     Saving energy means wasting less primary fuel (coal, gas, oil)
  •     Saving energy means producing less pollution

Lowering energy bills – Energy efficiency is the easiest, most affordable and most effective way for people to use energy more wisely and save money and also increase the lifetime of your sources of energy; when the amount of energy you use goes down you will pay lower energy bills.

Keeping the Earth Clean- Facilities with chimneys can release harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. These negatively affect the earth over time, destroying entire ecosystems, contributing to global warming, and making the world’s population extremely unhealthy. Even homes without chimneys can still give off greenhouse gases, so it is generally a good idea for homeowners to practice energy efficient methods daily. This way, the chances of global warming occurring greatly lessens.

HOW TO SAVE ENERGY
Make things easy for your fridge and freezer. Keeping them full means they don't have to work as hard and therefore they use less energy. Empty space in your fridge or freezer wastes not only space but energy too.

Switch it off and save. Unplug all the appliances that you aren't using regularly - even chargers continue to use electricity when they aren't charging. Also, make sure you're not leaving appliances on standby: it may be easier but it's also a guaranteed way to waster energy compared to turning things off at the socket.

  • Use energy-saving light bulbs.
  • Reuse plastic bags for shopping and storage.
  • Use a microwave instead of a stove to re-heat food.
  • Use rechargeable batteries instead of disposable batteries.
  • If you have hardwood or tile floors, add area rugs to keep your feet warm.

Use smaller kitchen appliances whenever possible. Microwaves, toaster ovens and cookers can use 75 percent less energy than a large electric oven.

Use lids on sufurias and pans to reduce cooking times, and don't put a small sufurias on a large burner.

Remove clothes from the dryer while they're still damp and hang them up. This will save energy, prevent static and reduce wrinkles and shrinkage.

While ironing, start with clothes that require less heat and then proceed to those that need a higher temperature. Reduce power consumption and ironing time by putting a piece of aluminium foil under the ironing board cover. The foil reflects heat enabling you to iron both sides.
